The 2016 Gear Run Through

As 2016 comes to a close I thought I would do a complete run-through of my entire gear. I will be focusing on my guitars, pedals and amps. As for my studio gear, that will be for another time.

GUITARS:

Ibanez GRX70DXJ 'Ibby' - I was given this guitar in 2008, it was used to record the Rhythm sections for 'Incoming Transmission' and most of 'Eclipse Part II' and 'The Great Skies Above' from my EP 'Where the Waves Break'. For the most part, I have it strung with 10-52 and I tend to have it tuned in Drop C and D standard. When recording 'Incoming Transmission' I had it strung with a set of strings made for a seven string as the song is tuned to B standard.

ESP LTD Alexi 200- My second guitar which I acquired in 2010, this is the only guitar which I have with a Floyd. It has been used to record 'Eclipse' and is set with 10-52 and is tuned to Drop C.

Black Knight 7 String - I got it in 2011, again for to sole purpose that it is a 7 string. This was used to record 'Where the Waves Break'. For quite a while this year and last, it was my main guitar.

Fender Squier Stratocaster - I was given this guitar as it had been sitting in a friends bedroom for quite a number of years with 3 strings and a shed load of dust.

Chapman ML-1 - This guitar I bought in 2013, I have recently had it set up by David Sutton so the Wilkinson tremolo now floats and I now have it as my blues guitar. This guitar is currently set up with 9-42 strings in standard E tuning.

Ibanez RG421EX 'Eve' - My lastest guitar and definitely my number one. This guitar was bought earlier this year. It is strung with 10-46 and is tuned to E standard and Eb and there respective drop tunings.

ACOUSTIC AND BASSES:

Marina Acoustic - Given to my last year as a christmas present, it was used to record the acoustic section in 'Eclipse Part II'.

Yamaha TRBX304 'Shelly' - I bought this bass last year and is my only bass. It was the only bass used when recording this years EP.

AMPS:

Fender 212r Frontman - This amp is a solid state and 100w, it has been my main gigging amp since I got it in 2013.

Laney IRT Studio - This amp I bought this year with its 1x12 cab. One word: Dirty, but also at the same time it clean channel is extremely good and have just today found a very nice clean sound which goes well with Eve on a parallel neck pick up.

The pedals which I currently use have not changed since my last blog post. So if you missed it, here they are:

For Picks I use the Dunlop Jazz III John Petrucci signature picks and also I occasionally have used the Jazz III standard picks.

I use Stagg and Fender leads.

For my Pedalboard power I use a InnoGear DC core 10 power supply.

I would like to end this blog by thanking all of you who have helped me and supported me in any way. For 2017, I hope to get started with the recording of my second release, not all of the tracks have been written but I have got a small selection of tracks which have already been written. I also am going to be continuing with Youtube, I have a couple of ideas for videos which I will get round to doing at some point.
